On the first day of January 2025, as the world celebrated the dawn of a new year, a group of compassionate travelers and community partners gathered at the heart of Jamestown, Accra, to make a difference. This year’s visit to the Jamestown Gbekebii School was not just another stop on our itinerary; it was a heartfelt mission to spread love, hope, and joy.
In partnership with the Derrick Wood Foundation and with the unwavering support of Lovor Quest Club’s travelers, we made a donation that will leave a lasting impact on the school’s students, teachers, and the community at large.

A School at the Heart of Jamestown
Jamestown, one of Accra’s oldest districts, is a vibrant community filled with rich culture and history. However, it also faces significant challenges, particularly in access to quality education. The Gbekebii School, a cornerstone of this community, serves as a safe haven for children eager to learn and grow despite limited resources.
When Lovor Quest Club partnered with the Derrick Wood Foundation, we knew our combined efforts could bring tangible change. Together, we set out to make this New Year’s Day one of hope and promise for the children and staff of Gbekebii.

The Day of Giving: Spreading Joy and Love
The morning of January 1st began with excitement and anticipation. Lovor Quest Club travelers, many of whom had never been to Ghana before, gathered eagerly to take part in the event. Armed with supplies, smiles, and a shared mission, we made our way to the school.
Upon arrival, we were greeted with warm smiles and heartfelt songs from the children. Their voices echoed through the community, a reminder of the resilience and joy that shines even in the face of challenges.
The donations included essential school supplies, textbooks and learning materials to ease the burden on both students and teachers. But it didn’t stop there. With the help of the Derrick Wood Foundation, we also contributed art supplies and food, ensuring the children could balance academics with creative and physical expression.

Beyond the Donations: Building Connections
The event was not just about giving items—it was about creating meaningful connections. Lovor Quest Club travelers spent the day engaging with the children through games, positive affirmations session, and even impromptu art sessions. Travelers shared their stories, listened to the dreams of the students, and left inspired by the resilience and brilliance of the next generation.
One traveler, Tammi, shared, “I’ve never felt such a profound sense of connection and purpose. Seeing the smiles on the children’s faces and knowing we’ve made even a small difference is a memory I’ll carry forever.”

Partnerships That Empower
This initiative would not have been possible without the Derrick Wood Foundation, whose commitment to uplifting underserved communities aligns seamlessly with Lovor Quest Club’s mission. Together, we’ve shown that collaboration can amplify impact, bringing people from across the globe to work toward a common goal.

A Message of Gratitude
As the day came to a close, we were reminded of the power of kindness and community. To our incredible travelers who chose to spend their New Year’s Day giving back, and to the Derrick Wood Foundation for their steadfast partnership, we extend our deepest gratitude.
To the children and staff of Gbekebii School, thank you for welcoming us into your lives and inspiring us with your hope and determination.

This New Year’s Day event was a reminder that no act of kindness is too small. As we move forward in 2025, Lovor Quest Club invites you to join us in creating more moments like this. Together, we can continue to spread joy, love, and opportunity wherever we go.
